Red Cab
Right off, you can understand the branding. The buds are practically bursting with…cabernet grapes? I’m undecided on the grape classification and I’ll tell you why. I just reunited with a high school bestie and we met up at Diamond Jim Brady’s, fantastic spot. After a few bourbons with some other bar patrons, and the Mediterranean appetizer (so good), we opted for the featured salmon. The suggested wine pairing was, we think a pinot noir (that maybe started with an A). After the wine & the whiskey, we don’t exactly recall. But that pinot and this cab, same on the palate. Sour grapes.
Tart acidity, fruity notes of maybe pear and strawberries, brawny & briary. If this had legs, they’d belong to ZZ Top! That first hit, you know you’ve got something, that tang crawling up the back of your neck, and up your scalp. It brings your ears forward and that chill vibe balances out like the sour patch effect. Smooth intake, diesel aftertaste but with a clean finish. This would probably go nicely in a bubbler because ya couldn’t choke on this if ya tried. Slow burn and tasty for the duration. I’d probably say it pairs well with salmon. Nom nom.
